Cambodian National Assembly President, Lao PM Agree to Enhance Cooperation

PHNOM PENH: Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh has paid a courtesy visit to the Cambodian National Assembly president, Heng Samrin on Tuesday morning. His visit to Heng Samrin is one of his scheduled activities in the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Lao Prime Minister is leading a high-delegation visiting Cambodian high officials as part of strengthening the cooperation between the two nations. National Assembly President Heng Samrin has warmly welcomed the Lao delegation lead by their Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh.

During his two days visit in the Kingdom, the Lao Prime Minister has noticed the huge development in the Kingdom of Cambodia. He has told the Cambodian National Assembly president that Cambodia has prospered, especially its capital – Phnom Penh.

Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh has congratulated Cambodia for its on its active participation and success in international forums such as the 11th Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership Meeting and the 13th Asia-Europe Summit. He says that the international events organized and hosted by Cambodia has shown the prestige of Cambodia on the international stage.

On his side, the National Assembly president Heng Samrin has applauded the achievements of the strong friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and Laos in the past within the framework of the Party, State, Government and National Assembly. He has emphasized that the current visit of Lao Prime Minister Phankham Viphavanh marked the resumption of exchanges between the leaders of the two countries to further promote friendly relations, traditional solidarity and cooperation in all fields.

The two government leaders have pledged to work hard together and to resolve the remaining border issues to achieve, peace, development and brotherhood. The Lao Prime Minister has stressed that Cambodian officials can visit Laos at any time of their convenience.
